Bavaria Community and Spouses' Club Thrift Shops Position Application Deadline: February 24, 2020
BCSC is looking for a general manager to oversee and manage operations at the BCSC Thrift Shops in Grafenwoehr and Vilseck. We are looking for a candidate who enjoys thrifting, marketing and is able to work well with people but also independently (as some of the hours will be done outside of the Thrift Shops).
Responsible for the supervision of the Thrift Shop (TS) and its Contractors.
Maintain the work schedule for both stores.
Coordinate all Thrift Shop publicity by creating content for Facebook, Instagram, and other social media accounts. Work in conjunction with the Store Managers and TS Liaison for the BCSC newsletter and other publicity.
Set pricing for the store to keep them aligned.
Be responsible for the training and utilization of all contractors.
Host tables at outside events (BCSC Monthly luncheons, Team Days, ACS job fairs etc).
Participate in interviewing, hiring, and training of contractors, in conjunction with the TS Liaison and President as necessary.
Physically visit both stores at minimum once a week.
Make recommendations to the TS Liaison concerning personnel, policies, financials, and equipment needed for daily operations.
Responsible for the physical security of the Thrift Shop and its contents. Oversees key control for contractors.
Ensure the Thrift Shop meets all fire and physical security regulations
Maintain a copy of the current System of Processes (SOPs) at the Thrift Shop and assure that all contractors have read it.
Keep and maintain a current inventory of property owned by the Thrift Shop.
Coordinate for outgoing donations.
Coordinate with DPW for building repair, maintenance, or other work orders.
Resolve disputes with customers, referring to the SOP when necessary.
Draft a yearly budget in coordination with the Managers and Liaison.
Be bonded by BCSC annually.
Verify all contractor timesheets and submit them to the bookkeeper for preparation of paychecks on the last opening day of the month.
Verify all volunteer hours and submit them to the Thrift Shop Liaison monthly.
Has the authority/right to ask uncontrollable or unruly guests or children to leave and/or pay for any damage caused to consignment or Thrift Shop property.
Responsible for determining Thrift Shop planned and unplanned closures and notifying the BCSC Thrift Shop Liaison/President of all scheduled closures.
Work Hours 22-25 hours per week and one Saturday per month.
Compensation Compensation is based on commission, and will be further detailed in candidate interviews.
Applicant Information Applicants must be a D.O.D. ID card holder and be 18 years or older. The applicant must have reliable transportation as job duties will require travel between Tower and Rose Barracks.
