Hello BoG members,

    We have two votes being brought to the BOG for approval before being sent out for a final General Membership vote. There are two documents you need to look over before proceeding on to the vote: the Summer 2022 Budget and 2022-2024 Constitution.  

    Both votes require majority BOG approval. BOG members can vote yes, no, or abstain on the drop down ballots at the bottom of this page.     Voting is limited to one ballot per member. Any changes must be submitted through the parliamentarian. ​Voting will be open until Wednesday 27 April 2022 at 11:59pm.

    Summer 2022 Budget

    As outlined in the BCSC Bylaws, the 2021-2022 Board of Governors has put together a proposed budget for use during Summer 2022. This budget is based on budgets from previous years, annual BCSC activities, and available funds.  The summer budget allows the incoming board to start planning events before the full 2022-2023 board year budget is created and voted on in September.

    BCSC Constitution: Reviewed 2022

    The BCSC Constitution Committee has convened to conduct the biennial review of the BCSC Constitution and has submitted a new draft to be voted on by the BOG and general membership before it can be adopted. The committee reviewed the constitution to assess areas that could be improved to make it as efficient and effective as possible. The recommended changes mainly target organization of subsections, clarity of word choice, and maintaining consistency with other BCSC governing documents. 

    The following changes were addressed:
    • Article III (Operating Procedures, Functions, and Activities): defined and ranked BCSC governing documents
    • Article V (The Governing Body): reorganized subsections in an easier to follow manner. Special committee chairs section has been added to match the BCSC Bylaws. Removed repetitive language within the advisors subsection about voting privileges. 
    • Article VI (Duties of the Governing Body): has been reorganized to group ideas together better so information does not get buried in the wrong section. 
    • Article VII (Meetings): Added a line about scheduling committee meetings. Defined special meetings. Changed attendance rules for board members to relate directly to board meetings. 
    • Article VIII (Voting and Quorums): Quorum for general membership meetings has been updated to better clarify how it is taken. Rules about proxy voting not being allowed was moved to apply to all voting not just electronic voting. And the electronic voting section was updated to clarify how votes are conducted and counted. 
    • Article X (Finances). References to grants and scholarships have been changed to "Welfare Programs" or "Welfare Accounts" to include the Bright Eyes program in addition to the grants and scholarships programs. Welfare cycles and funding processes have been outlined. The amount of welfare funds that must be left for the next board year has been increased from $2,500 to $5,000. The date of Thrift Shop funds transfers has been pushed from the 10th to the 15th.
    • Article XII (Constitutional Amendments and Review): the Constitution Review Committee has been updated to match the Bylaws Review Committee. 
    • Title has been updated to reflect the year of review. And the approval date will be updated after approval from BCSC membership.
